Farnborough International Airshow 2022 Highlights
International Airshow at Farnborough took place last week, 18th – 22nd July 2022 in Farnborough, UK after more than a 3-year pause caused by the pandemic situation. The trade exhibition for the aerospace and defense industry once again proved how the world is evolving for sustainability, innovation, and workforce development. There were several interesting announcements and news introduced during this week, which we bring to you in this article.
Boom Supersonic introduced the updated design of the Overture model, with 4 engines. This aircraft will be capable of carrying 65-80 passengers at Mach 1.7, with a range of 4 250 nautical miles. The new design is the result of more than 26 million core hours of simulated software designs, wind tunnel tests, and extensive evaluation.
Gulfstream has confirmed the booming of business aviation. Speaking during the press conference, Scott Neal, senior vice president of worldwide sales at Gulfstream, expressed the drive in business aviation in recent months. “We have seen very robust, significant activity for about the last 18 months that’s continuing here into the third quarter,” said Scott Neal. This success was credited to the investments that the company made to expand its fleet of privet jets.
Brazil-based global major aerospace group Embraer reported the deliveries of commercial and executive aircraft for the first and second quarters of 2022. Embraer delivered together 46 commercial and executive jets, while 32 of them were delivered in Q2 2022. At that time, the company had a confirmed backlog worth $17,8 billion – 12% above the same date last year.
